After the debacle of one customer who found $10 million in their account, then left New Zealand with a large portion of the accidental deposit, one found over $9 billion recorded in a account, then learns by the way of National News the worker who had been with the bank for thirty years making one mistake ( the decimal point in the $10.million case) was fired unjustly.
In a supermarket a woman was unable to purchase her groceries (her card declined) puzzled she discovered her account by error of the bank had been overdrawn by approx $1 million, so had to wait for days without her goods whilst the bank fixed things.
Westpak announces to the Nation their processes are all in place and there is nothing wrong with their system.
But wait there is more!!! A few days ago the recent discovery is over 3000 customers Westpac Credit Cards have been double dipped by the bank. So if one bought $50 of fuel, the bank deducted $100 from the persons credit card. That’s the tip of the iceberg.
Apart from mistakes in automatic payments penalizing the customer for example $85 dollars of failed fees out of $100 pay. Due to a simple customer error unaware, no notification for month on discovery simply told look at internet. Not all look at internet. It appears with Westpac the attitude is like ” if you buy a car, then learn to be a mechanic”
Negligence, greed , stupidty Westpac has a lot of simple learning to do. Go back to basics and service, it is a disgrace and it is your money. Perhaps people should use banks as little as possible and deal with cash instead.
